Even though many of us believe we are free, in many ways we are in fact not enjoying freedom at all...

Truth and Freedom
Here is the cold hard truth.  There is one thing in all of life that we have a limited or finite amount of and which we can never get any more of.  That is our time.  No less impoartant is the fact that to most people having true freedom means being in control of their time.  When one is forced to spend time doing things out of necessity and not spend the time doing what they truly want, then true freedom is not achieved.  As an example if one is forced to spend 40 hours per week working as opposed to being home spending time with young children, all out of a need for money, then that person is truly not free.  Yet to many, true freedom is still as much a choice or a state of mind as it is about achieving the dictionary definition of the word.

The definition of freedom per several English dictionaries is:

"The quality or state of being free; The absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action; Liberation from restraint or from the power of another."

Note the part that state "Liberation from restraint or from the power of another".  I believe that even though many of us believe we are free, based on the above definition, in many ways we are in fact not enjoying freedom at all.  One example of this is the employer/employee relationship.  In this pairing an employer has and exerts power over their employees and in many ways limits or usurps freedoms from them.  Of course, the fact remains that a person has a choice of being employed.  That very fact alone shifts the burden of responsibility from employer to employee with respect to the employees control of their freedom.  None the less once one chooses to become employed, they are in effect allowing the employer to exert power over them by telling them when they can and cannot work, how much vacation they can have and when they are allowed to take it, and even the lifestyle they can have.  Employers enforce these by mandatory or core hours which are required to be kept by employees.  They tell them when and how much vacation they can take, they control or limit their lifestyle through wages or compensation, they limit earnings potential through reviews which can become political, and they have the power to terminate an employees employment at any time for virtually any reason, thus tossing their lives into chaos.  They also exert a type of coercion over employees in many ways too. Often the manner they do this includes company policies and procedures, internal politics, and by affording employees additional so called "benefits" which are only offered as conditions of employment, and often which cannot be affordably acquired without being employed by a company.

There is a better way and there are other choices we can make.  Read on or if you just can't wait to find out how we live in true freedom then visit This Link!!

So if an employer or boss usurps our freedom, or at least some of what the dictionary definition of freedom is, then why do we subject ourselves to it?

Many believe it is because in order to really live free, we all need some basic commodities or necessities of life, and maybe some extra non-essentials which fulfill us or otherwise make us happy.  The way we acquire these basics and extras is through money of course.  We can trade money for food, transportation, travel or vacations, healthcare, shelter, and many other needs or desires.  Because we trade money for these things money is merely a means to an end, it is just a commodity which we can trade for other commodities, needs, or desires.  It does not inherently hold value for us, but rather it has value to us because we can trade it for the things we really value, need, or seek to acquire.  Accordingly we strive to acquire money and employers use this desire to maintain power and control over their employees.  Certainly an ongoing residual supply of money would afford us the ability to remove the shackles our employers have affixed to us and allow us to do whatever we want with whomever we want whenever we want.  To many, that would be true freedom.

I believe in many free countries today most of the people are not really enjoying the dictionary definition of freedom.  In most free countries of the world the biggest constraints or power held over many of us is that which is held by our bosses and employers.  The funny part about this is we choose to work for them and grant them that power over us.  Yet many would argue this fact, stating that employers weild no such power over employees.  They do not feel their freedom is taken by employers.  Or maybe they do and and they are simply making excuses to defend their inability to take control of their own destiny, and thus their own freedom.  So they become loyal hard working employees trading their time for a fixed salary or hourly rate as well as the false sense of security that comes with it.  Then later a minority of them are able to retire and live out their retirement years without financial worry.  Yet the vast majority will have a difficult time just making ends meet, all because they have limited money.  Meanwhile, this problem is almost entirely attributable to the choices they have made in their lives.

So the real choice that most of us have is in how we acquire the money that we need.  We live in a societies that have taught us that the main method to acquire money, and for that matter to achieve success or happiness, is through a job.  While that is certainly one way, I would submit that it is most definitely not the only way.  We can choose other methods to acquire the money we need.

The reason many people actually do choose to acquire their money through other less traditional methods (Ex. Not a job) is because they feel that trading the one thing in life they have a limited amount of and which they can never get back (ex. Their time), for money, is not a fair trade.  Time is finite, it is not a commodity, and we cannot, no matter how much money we have, acquire or trade for any more of it.  At the very least trading mass amounts of time for money is an exchange that many are just not willing to make.  Most people who choose to acquire their money in ways other than being an employee may look at it this way:

  • What what amount of money is worth not being there after school each day for your children?
  • What amount of money is worth not being able to attend or coach a son in an athletic endeavor?
  • What amount of money is worth not being able to attend a daughters dance recital, music recital, or miss a child's school play?
  • What amount of money is worth not being there to take care of a loved one when they are ill or otherwise need someone?
  • What amount of money will give you back the time you miss with your family, children, loved ones, etc...?
  • What amount of money is worth not being able to take a vacation or travel when you want to?
  • Most importantly, what regrets will you have when you look back on your life and realize that you traded away a massive amount of your incredibly valuable time to acquire a commodity that there are many other ways of acquiring?

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. If there were a mechanism whereby you could trade your efforts and time to acquire money, but do it from anywhere, on your schedule, and spend the time working when you want to without sacrificing time with family, friends, or loved ones, then why wouldn't you choose that option?
  2. Why would you choose to trade your time for a fixed amount of money that will not continue to pay you over and over again, when there are available methods of acquiring money that will pay you over and over again for the initial time and effort you put in (Residual or Passive Residual Income) ?
  3. If there were a mechanism for trading your time and effort that would have no limits on the amount of money you can acquire, then why would you choose to trade your time for a fixed amount of money with limits set by an employer, which in turn determines your lifestyle?
  4. If there were a mechanism where the only limit on the amount of money you could acquire were your own actions and efforts, then why would you choose to work for an employer who may never allow you advancement or where your advancement may not be a direct reflection of the time and effort that you put in, but rather may be based on peer reviews, boss reviews, or any number of other organizational, financial, or political factors?
  • I personally know of one way which will allow a person to acquire money and do so at a rate only limited by their own direct effort and productivity.
  • I know this mechanism works because I have done it.
  • I know this mechanism has no limits on the amount of money that can be acquired.
  • I know it rewards those who work and does so not based on tenure, politics, title, promotion, etc... but based solely on production.
  • I know this mechanism can be done from anywhere and on any schedule that you choose.
  • I know that this mechanism for acquiring money can be done without interfering with our time with family, children, loved ones, travel, vacations, etc...

The way that I know and that I am referring to is being in business for yourself.  Not just any business though, but rather the right low risk, low startup cost, unlimited potential type of business that I have eluded to.

Here are a few of questions and answers about one business that I know works:

  • Is it challenging?  You bet!
  • Is it rewarding?  Absolutely!
  • Does it pay over and over again from the initial effort?  Most definitely!
  • Does it afford true time freedom and flexibility?  Yes!
  • Can anyone do it?  Yes!
  • Is there training and support?  Yes a tremendous amount!
  • Can it be done on my time when I want to?  Yes!
  • Can one advance without the need for playing typical company politics?  Most Certainly!
  • If its a business then does it cost a fortune to start?  Most Emphatically Not!!  A typical business, retail, distribution, food service, or other may cost thousands, tens of thousands, or even in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars to start.  This business can be started for less than $200.

So the final question would be what is it and how does one begin?
